Kaprun village – Zell am See

Area and ski runs
The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier of the Schmittenhöhe skiing area of Kaprun guarantees a storybook winter sports holiday for young and old alike. Some 30 mountains reaching 3,000 metres in elevation allow you to experience all aspects of the Alps. The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier guarantees snow.
For those who want to take things a bit easier and for families with smaller children, Kaprun offers the Maiskogel skiing area, with runs that descend all the way down into the village.
The Europa skiing area with Kaprun – Zell am See is one of the best-known skiing areas in the Austrian Alps. It has a very varied terrain and offers something for everyone: beautiful wide, blue and red ski runs for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, but also with steep mogul runs and black runs for the experts.
The Volvo Ice Camp consists of two snowboard parks and a superpipe. What’s more, the Roxy Glacier Park is located at an elevation of 2,900 metres. There is a halfpipe and fun park near Zell am See in the Schmittenhöhe skiing area. And cross-country skiing opportunities abound thanks to the nearby popular Pinzga run and various runs in the direct vicinity.
The après-ski options are overwhelming, both on the slopes themselves as well as in both villages. From cosy bars to modern night clubs, from first-rate culinary restaurants to grand-cafés, it’s all here.
Take a lovely sailing trip or motor about on Lake Zell, then take in a nice lunch or dinner in the picturesque, but worldly Zell am See.
Golf and tennis
Play a fun round of golf among the impressive Austrian mountains on Zell am See’s superb 36-hole golf course, just 5 minutes from Kaprun. You can also try your game at one of 13 top-class golf courses, which can all be reached in no more than an hour’s drive. Or play tennis on the courts right in the middle of exquisite alpine scenery. It’s all within easy reach.

Many of the ski lifts remain open during the summer season in order to transport mountain bikers and their bicycles to the tops of the mountains. Thrill-seekers can descend down the mountain at break-neck speeds on spectacular routes. But mountain bikers who like to take things slower will not be disappointed either, sure to enjoy the pretty surroundings that Mother Nature offers.
Here, too, there are unlimited possibilities for exploring the mountains with many cosy, authentic chalets offering overnight accommodations. Take a hiking trip to explore the flora and fauna with Europe’s best-known mountain as your backdrop: the almost 3,800-metre high Gro?glockner.
Spa and wellness
On the outskirts of Kaprun you will find Austria’s largest spa and wellness centre, which was opened in 2010.
Kaprun is the ideal home base for visiting and touring many well-known and popular Austrian attractions, from the Krimml waterfalls to Mozart’s birth place, the beautiful historic city of Salzburg.
